Matthew became qualified as a psychiatrist in 2008 and has a private practice which is mostly psychotherapy based. Additionally he is  qualified in family and rural medicine, and has specialist psychotherapy training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and a Diploma of Buddhist Psychotherapy.

His interest in Systemic Constellation has developed over the past five years. He completed several trainings and uses Systemic Constellations one-to one with psychotherapy patients. He is especially interested in trauma transmitted over multiple generations and the spiritual/shamanic dimensions of constellation work.
